Taphouse or not... the steaks here reign supreme. This will be short and sweet...the chef (and I think it was the owner) makes one of the best, most succulent, and perfectly prepared rib-eyes I've had. Very "supper-clubby" atmosphere and menu...basic fare otherwise...but THAT STEAK!! I live in the south metro and will make a special trip just to have this steak!

I didn't have the steak so my review may get better after trying it. The food I did have wasn't great. My companion had the cheeseburger. The flavor was good, but it was overcooked and tough. Would probably have been good if it wasn't so well done (they didn't ask how we wanted it cooked). I had the potato bacon soup and that was terrible. It was basically a giant bowl of thickened milk with some potato chunks dumped in. There was no flavor outside of milk.... No seasoning and no bacon flavor at all.

Excellent steak, cold beer on tap, and friendly service. I frequent the Bayside Steakhouse and Tap House for two reasons: Steak and cold beer on tap. I have enjoyed their Kansas City strip, Top Sirloin and Ribeye. These guys know how to cook a steak to order. They skillfully demonstrate the difference between medium and medium rare. The steaks are brought out to you sizzling with a touch of fresh garlic and drizzled butter. There are few things in life more enjoyable after traveling on the road for work than a tasty steak and a cold draft beer. Cheers to Bayside !!!

Stopped in for a quick bite to eat after reading the reviews. My husband & I are both chefs & this place definitely didn't disappoint! We both ordered the filet mignon - he had broccoli & soup (potato & bacon), I ordered it with the salad (blue cheese dressing) & American fries. The steaks were good size & cooked perfectly mid-rare. The broccoli was steamed nicely. The blue cheese dressing was made in house & the BEST I've tasted in a restaurant to date. We spoke with one of the owners. They don't have freezers or deep fryers in this restaurant so you won't be getting lower quality food that you find elsewhere. Overall, I highly recommend this place & we will definitely be back!!!'

Once again the best steak ever. Sweet potato smothered, hot brandy-wine glaze, and no kidding-- the best steak. Never any gristly or inedible bites, perfectly, amazingly, cooked to perfection. In fact, I have never had a consistently great perfectly cooked steak that compares. Excellent service and wait staff!

Really yummy steaks and free range very good quality beef from local farmers. Great prices you can get a steak starting just at $17 bucks. I live in Minneapolis and I drove here only for a the experience with awesome flavor in the beef that you get here without paying the city prices.

I was visiting my grandfather in Red Wing, and we decided to try a new place for lunch. The interior definitely has a bar feel, but there are diner-style tables in the back. After consulting the menu, we both ordered the patty melt with fries. Positives: -Nice, huge burger...delicious patty melt. -Good service - the bartender was also our waitress, and she did a great job of balancing both duties. -Nice views of the river and a back patio to sit outside. Negatives: -Pretty small place...would be pretty crowded if it were busy. -Bar atmosphere might not cater to all types Overall, I was definitely impressed with the food here - definitely a good spot for a nice greasy burger and a beer.

Ok location with a marginal view of the river. The place is clean but definitely more bar than restaurant. The name says Tap House... The beer menu says not! The menu is very limited and the food is average. The best thing was our server. She was pleasant and attentive and would be the only reason to go back. The deck might be nice in the summer.

Great family owned spot. Sort of back woods in décor, newly built patio is next to other restaurant being renovated... but fun place, great staff and food and beer selection is awesome. I'm looking forward to going back and supporting this spot. Hope they have great success!

This place has AMAZING steaks. I had the top sirloin twice while I was in town on business. So good, I didn't even use the A1 sauce they brought me. And I love A1. I also had the potato soup, which was very good. The only downside is the bill. It's a handwritten receipt that is difficult to read, and then they keep after running your credit card (you get the credit card slip with the total on it).

The Bayside Tap and Steakhouse has quickly jumped to one of my favorite places to eat in Red Wing. We ate here a few weeks ago when the bar-resturant down the street was too crowded. It was so good we went back this week. On the first trip we had a Chicken Club sandwich -- great chicken and stuffed with B, L and T and ham and cheddar piled high on Texas Toast. Also a Steak and Blue Cheese Salad. The steak was so good that on the second visit we had another Steak and Blue Salad and a Sirloin. The steak was perfectly cooked, juicy, tender and very very flavorful. We were so convinced in what we wanted that we did not hear the specials. Turned out it was a Salmon with a choice of a couple of ways to have it prepared. People were wowing over the Cajun version of the Salmon. I sure hope to try it in the future. They have some good beers on tap, but as others have pointed out it not the beer selection that brings in customers. There are other places on this street for that, including a brew pub. Clearly there is a bar crowd, but as the neon sign above the bar says it all: MEAT. That is what the Bayside is all about. The service was excellent both visits. BTW, they do serve locally sourced items. Deserts come from Wisteria Twig, another favorite of ours. Meats are from Buchanan's, a great local grocery and meat market and Hanisch provides the bread. All and all Bayside is a very pleasant place to sit and watch the trains roll by and get a view across Bay Point Park to the river. We will be making regular visits here.

Nice place! Food is decent, service is good. We've been there a few times, it's worth the drive and steaks are actually quite tasty! Nice addition to Old West Main Street.

We stopped here for our first time today and were beyond pleased with our lunch, I had the ribeye steak and it was perfectly cooked and well seasoned, served with potatoes and a salad. The bacon potato soup is very flavorful. This was a super laid back old school type of restaurant and they do things great.....service was great, I can't complain about one thing here and will definitely be back! Tado's steakhouse in Treasure Island Casino could learn a few things from these guys. I forgot to mention how fair the prices are.....can't be beat.

This place is AWESOME.. My husband and I loved everything about it.. Greeted by three different people when we walked in.. Mary was our waitress.. She was super sweet and friendly.. Steaks were delicious.. I had the filet and he had the ribeye.. Both cooked to medium rare perfection.. Mine was served with a cheesy loaded bacon baked potato and a mushroom gravy.. Wonderful.. Also, they have Pepsi products.. Gave us a menu to take home so we can call for take out.. The salad was great.. French dressing and homemade blue cheese were outstanding.. Everything from the second we walked in to the second we left comfortably stuffed was PERFECT.. Thank you.. We can't wait to come back..

Service-10, drinks-10, food was OK. Wonderful staff offering the best service in town. Quite busy on a Wednesday night-everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. The quality of the Ribeye and Tuna did not live up to the price.

Once upon a time this was the Bayside Tavern. It is so much better now. NY Strip Steak was very good. My wife had a fillet. Salad and potato or sweet potato included with entree. Drinks were good. Average entree $15-$22. Service was attentive. We were there at 5pm, when it wasn't crowded, but it gets very busy later. . Overall, very pleased. Check it out. Serveral of my friends in their 30's/early40's recommended the Bayside Tap and Steakhouse. Both my parents(60's) liked everything too and saw people they knew....so it's safe bet for a diverse crowd. (it's now more of a restaurant w/ bar vs a bar w/ restaurant) It's simple, it's good.
